  • 27 years in management at the College of New Caledonia     
Cathy is a key member of a dynamic team of individuals who are passionate about education and improving the quality of life for children and families in our community. 
 
Monty Palmantier | Vice-President 
  • 23 years working at Lake Babine Nation 
  • Currently the Education Director for Lake Babine Nation
  • Bachelor of Education, Post-Baccalaureate Diploma - Adult Education (University of BC), Masters of Education (Simon Fraser University); Education Doctorate in progress (Simon Fraser University)
​Monty has been responsible for initiating and designing numerous post-secondary options for Aboriginal learners and his commitment to the education and well-being of Lake Babine Nation members has provided unique college and university level possibilities for all residents of the Lakes District. 

Bernice Magee  |  Secretary/Treasurer
  • 15 years on Burns Lake municipal council, 6 as a councillor and 9 as a mayor
  • Was a registered nurse, professional photographer and a realtor 
  • Currently on the board of 5 community organizations 
Bernice realizes that a small community is built by the volunteers and when she is not attending a meeting, she enjoys sewing, reading, fishing and travelling to exciting places in the world.

Lynn Synotte  |  Director
  • Founding member of FES
  • 24 years on the FES Board of Directors
  • 25 years as a community liaison for the College of New Caledonia 
Lynn has fundraised and managed multiple community projects with a focus on increasing education, community health and economic vibrancy.  

Gary Blattner | Director 
  • Recently retired teacher, administrator and consultant
  • Received two British Columbia Council for the Family Distinguished Service to Families Awards
  • Chair or board member for 7 regional and provincial organizations 
Mr. Blattner has provided consultation, leadership and facilitation in program development, conflict resolution, board training, employment training, staff development, customer service and many other programs and projects for government, schools, business and local organizations.

Anne Guarasci | Director 
  • Advocated and assisted with the design of CNC’s Children’s Centre and the Early Intervention Services 
  • Designed and developed a community FASD Prevention Program - Healthier Babies Brighter Futures
  • Instrumental in developing the online Advanced Diploma in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder 
Anne is recognized for the expertise in designing and developing programs that reach marginalized women and families and has led several provincial training initiatives for the Public Health Agency of Canada focusing on the professional development of front line workers.
